Liberation Day - Day 301 Month 10-20 Week 41-7
Liberation Day
Today's Reading (Bible in 1 year)
2 Chronicles 20:26-21:20, Job 19, Amos 5:16-27, Hebrews 7:18-8:13
““As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives,
And at the last He will take His stand on the earth.
“Even after my skin is destroyed,
Yet from my flesh I shall see God” (Job 19:25-26).
As soon as I read these verses I remembered this to be the reference of one of the solos in Handel’s Messiah.
“I know that my Redeemer liveth, and that He shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And tho’ worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God. For now is Christ risen from the dead, the first fruits of them that sleep.” Here’s a link if you want to listen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kg7aXEvCeXY&list=RDKg7aXEvCeXY&start_radio=1
Job has spoken this passage and through all the pain and suffering plus the judgements his friends have poured on him he says “I know that my redeemer lives,” and “I shall see God.”
Last week Sylvia and I had a financial crisis hit us and we were both thrown by the crisis. We did have a sudden panic but as the crisis worked through and corrected, I couldn’t help but recognize that we are blessed far beyond others and even if we lost everything we’d still be able to say “I know that my redeemer lives” and “I shall see God.”
In 2022 Sylvia was diagnosed with cancer. When she received the diagnosis it was incredibly impacting. The sudden reality of mortality hit and we knew there may be a tough road ahead. Sylvia has now been clear of cancer since that time but in the midst of that life crisis we were able to recognize that “I know that my redeemer lives” and “I shall see God.”
Other crises hit us every now and then but Sylvia and I are always able to recognize the truth that “I know that my redeemer lives” and “I shall see God.”
The last few days I’ve talked about John 3:16, so why should today be any different? It states, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” God loves us so much that He gave Jesus, His Son, as a sacrifice so that we can have eternal life. Jesus is there, pulling at our heartstrings. When those crises come into our lives, God wants us to look to His Son, Jesus. He won't necessarily remove our struggles, but He can give us the strength to work through our difficulties and pain. Beyond the struggles of this life, we have the hope of eternal life with Him. We can face our pain and struggles recognizing, “I know that my Redeemer lives” and “I shall see God.”
