Known and Loved - Day 299 Month 10-25 Week 41-5

Known and Loved

“He who forms the mountains and creates the wind and declares to man what are His thoughts, He who makes dawn into darkness and treads on the high places of the earth, the LORD God of hosts is His name” (Amos 4:13 NASB1995)

Yesterday was a very windy day here on the north shore of Nova Scotia.  My brother in law is visiting us from Ontario and wanted to take his drone out because our property has some wonderful views that can likely be seen in a greater way by viewing it through the camera from a drone.  Unfortunately, he was not able to use his drone because the wind was gusting up to about 35 or 40 km/h and his drone is only rated for much lower wind speeds.

When the wind is like this the waves have an awesome power.  You can see and hear the power of nature that God created.  The waves are so powerful sometimes that you can hear the rocks move and of course, the rocky beach that looked one way 2 days ago did not appear the same the next day.

Sylvia will often take pictures of the sunset as well.  The sunset is never the same 2 days in a row and it is typically beautiful beyond words.  We don’t see the sunrise from our property but a neighbour down the road often takes pictures of the sunrise and just like the sunset, the view is beautiful.

God who formed the mountains and created that wind also knows us intimately.  He knows our inner thoughts.  That right there is scary because I also know my thoughts.  Those thoughts we all have!  The secret thoughts you control with the filter of a closed mouth.

God knows the hearts of humankind.  Not every quiet thought is sinful but He knows the sin we don’t act on but want to.  He knows the sin we do act on.

God also loves us.  John 3:16 states, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”  God sent Jesus.  This same Jesus “became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation” (Hebrews 5:9).

God knows us better than we know ourselves, including the thoughts we would rather keep hidden.  But He also loves us, and He demonstrated that love by sending Jesus to make a way for us to be forgiven and reconciled to Him.  We don't need to hide from God or pretend to be better than we are.  Instead, we can turn our hearts towards Jesus, accept His forgiveness and follow Him.  What an amazing God we have, who knows us completely and loves us anyway!

Have a great day!
