What If It’s True

“I showed you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you stoning Me?”  Jesus caused a dilemma for the Jews that surrounded Him.  He stated, “I and the Father are one.”  That would have been blasphemy if it were not true.  Considering the people did not believe He was God, their law would dictate they stone the person, yet Jesus did so many good works that he attributed to God.  Very simply, if Jesus were not from God, the miracles would not have been possible.  Jesus suggested looking at it the other way around.  “Though you do not believe me,” He says, “believe the works, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I in the Father.”

Have you ever said anything that people tell you you’re wrong about, and it turns out to be true?  I was in a discussion at work after Donald Trump was elected president of the US for a second term.  The guys around me were baffled about how that could have happened.  I said to them, “Donald Trump won the election simply from the support of the right wing Christian voters (Christian Nationalists) from the US, and the right wing christian women who would have wanted to vote for Kamala Harris but didn’t on account of her stand in favour of abortion.”  The guys laughed and told me their political views on why it happened and life went on.  I think now that the president is well into his second term, and we are seeing the unfaltering support he is still receiving from the Christian Nationalists, I suspect I was right.

Jesus was telling the Jews the truth but they were not prepared to believe it.  They had an image of what their Messiah would be like and that image was so ingrained into their minds and hearts that they were unwilling to recognize the Messiah in the way He arrived.  As we have read throughout Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, the Jews had plenty of opportunities to recognize Him but they were too stubborn.  But those whose hearts were open to really see Jesus, recognized and accepted Him.

Jesus knows that in this day and age, many will not recognize Him as the Saviour of the world even though prophecies, and some historical documents  have been shown to be accurate about Him and many of the prophecies are yet to be fulfilled.  If you have a small seed of faith that says maybe He is God and maybe He loves me and maybe He can save me from my empty life, He can use that.  He says all you need is the faith the size of a mustard seed (Matthew 17:20).  Stay open-minded and let Him prove Himself to you.

Have a great day!
