Day 18 - Week 3 Day 4 Understanding the Ladder
Today's reading
Genesis 28 - 29:20
Psalm 17
Isaiah 14:24 - End of 15
Matthew 12:46 - 13:17
In Genesis 28, verses 12-15 Jacob has a dream that is known as Jacob's ladder and the dream provides a vision to learn from. The description is a ladder set on earth reaching to heaven, angels are ascending and descending and God stands at the top and makes promises to Jacob about the future. The one promise that I hear loud and clear is "and in you and your descendants shall all the families of the earth be blessed".
The families of the earth shall be blessed!
I'll be straight out and say the families of the earth are blessed through Jesus! I'll even go further to say that Jesus is the ladder in Jacob's ladder. He's the link between God and Man.
Syl and I pray every night for family and friends to recognize Jesus as that link. In this day and age, we recognize that often we have to pray that God will reveal to friends and family that God is real before they even see a link between God and Jesus presence amongst us. I will say that Jesus is real to me and I know that without a doubt. I wish I could reveal it to them but I need to trust God to provide that revelation. Maybe though, he'll use the words we speak to reveal others this truth.
Jesus talks in Matthew 13 vs 13 that he speaks to people in parables "because while seeing, they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do the understand." and then quotes from Isaiah 6:9,10. This is said by Jesus in Matthew 14:15 "The heart of this people has become dull, with their ears they scarcely hear, and they have closed their eyes, otherwise they would see with their eyes, hear with their ears, and understand with their heart and return, and I would heal them." We read this in Isaiah a few days ago.
My prayer for you today is ask God to open your ears and eyes so that first of all you will know that God is there and that Jesus was sent to live, die and most importantly defeat death.
This is a short one today but it's very important. If you are finding you can scarcely hear or see what Jesus is saying I'd be happy to pray that God would reveal this truth to you! If you'd like me to pray for you, you can leave an anonymous comment on the blog here, you can mention it in my social media feeds or email me at steve.d.pauls@gmail.com
I will make the promise that whenever I see the request for prayer in my feed, I will pray immediately for you, and I will add you to my daily prayers.
