Day 5

Today’s reading, Day 5

Genesis 8&9
Psalms 5
Isaiah 3:13-end of 4
Matthew 5:1-20
Thoughts for the day:
1-There are a lot of observations regarding the flood but because we’ve started the sermon on the mount, I just want to point out one. Notice in Genesis 9:2-3 we see man only ate food from plants before the flood. From this point on, man was allowed to eat both. I suppose if we became vegetarians we would be able to live well. Daniel in the Bible showed that a diet of vegetables can be better for you than a meat diet. NO, I’m not becoming a vegetarian…..yet.
2-I love Jesus’ words in Matthew 5-7. I probably read these chapters 90 (no not exageration) times last year. Today we read about some of those who God blesses. Some of my friends and I are in a time of mourning and God promises the blessing of comfort.
I love this one!….Blessed are the peacemakers (not peacekeepers) for they shall be called sons of God. Peacemaking is active, not passive. Think of ways to make peace in these times. Whether personal or local, or regional or as big as the world, how can we be peacemakers? As you consider it, know that it’s not easy. I don’t think I do a great job….I’m naturally more of a peace keeper. It’s so much easier.
