Entering the King's Palace
The reading from Exodus is one of my least favourite parts of the Bible because there is so much talk about sacrifice offerings. So much is required for atonement of sin and in this case the consecration of the priests who will be responsible for bringing the offerings of the people to God. Before Jesus, the only way people could approach God was through blood sacrifices done by the priests. They prepared and offered the sacrifices on behalf of the people.
How do you approach a perfect and Holy God? As you are, you can’t. You must be perfect - without blemish or sin. Who on this earth is perfect? No one. Only one person throughout the history of the world was perfect - Jesus. He made the perfect, sinless sacrifice- Himself. It was one supernatural deal for all of time, for every person who believes in Him.
Reading this makes me incredibly thankful that through Jesus, we now have direct access to God!

Our reading in Psalm 45 is a royal love song but scholars have also interpreted it as a direct prophecy concerning the Messiah, Jesus, and His relationship with His bride, the church. Verses 6 and 7 starts with “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; a scepter of uprightness is the scepter of Your kingdom.” and “Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You.”
Our Mark reading today is about healing and Jesus raising a child from the dead. I believe in healing but it is a difficult topic because we don’t hear about healing so much in this day and age in North America. However, in other parts of the world, where people have nothing but faith (because there’s no access to healthcare, drugs, sanitary conditions, etc.), supernatural healings take place often.
Right in front of where I am sitting, my dog is lying on the floor with a cone around his head to protect him from getting near a paw that had a tumour removed last week.
We have been praying for his healing but even if he is healed, it’s only temporary. You see, he will eventually pass away. He’s 10 or so now (we really don’t know his age) and he may have another 2 or 3 or more years. We are praying for healing for Sylvia right now for several things but God has not yet healed those things. Sylvia and I know a friend who recently, was miraculously healed of a painful and debilitating physical ailment that she had suffered with for several years. The apostle Paul saw healing and brought healing to people but when he himself asked for healing, God's response was “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.”
Often we want God to heal us but we don’t necessarily understand His behind the scenes purposes for healing some, but not others. Healing is for God’s purposes and not ours. And that is a tough pill to swallow. However, He has provided the ultimate cure for the biggest malady we all share: death. We will all die physically but we can live on. We can be part of the bride of Jesus referred to in our Psalm reading and when we pass through physical death here on earth, we will enter the King's palace, and have life forevermore in real resurrected perfect bodies like the one Jesus had when He rose from the dead and was seen by many
Maybe that’s a cure you’d like to pursue today!
