Day 6

Today’s reading Day 6 Genesis 10,11 Psalms 6 Isaiah 5:1-17 Matthew 5:21-end of 5 Thoughts for the day 1-in Isaiah 5:1-3, the profit speaks to the people in a parable where God has likened his people to a vineyard that he has planted in all the best ways. Then God says to judge between him and his vineyard when the vineyard has provided very poor grapes. He then goes on to say that he will take the hedge away from his vineyard so they might learn. It seems God will provide good ways for people but he won’t force them to do His will and if they don’t, he will allow things to happen that are not the best for his people. Notice he’s allowing it, not doing it. 2-in Matthew 5 starting at verse 21, we start to learn how Gods kingdom is not based on rules but heart. He starts with murder as an example, the law says don’t murder but Jesus says your heart (anger towards your brother) makes you guilty, he uses the example of adultery where he points out that it’s not just the act but it’s t...

Day 5

Today’s reading, Day 5 Genesis 8&9 Psalms 5 Isaiah 3:13-end of 4 Matthew 5:1-20 Thoughts for the day: 1-There are a lot of observations regarding the flood but because we’ve started the sermon on the mount, I just want to point out one. Notice in Genesis 9:2-3 we see man only ate food from plants before the flood. From this point on, man was allowed to eat both. I suppose if we became vegetarians we would be able to live well. Daniel in the Bible showed that a diet of vegetables can be better for you than a meat diet. NO, I’m not becoming a vegetarian…..yet. 2-I love Jesus’ words in Matthew 5-7. I probably read these chapters 90 (no not exageration) times last year. Today we read about some of those who God blesses. Some of my friends and I are in a time of mourning and God promises the blessing of comfort. I love this one!….Blessed are the peacemakers (not peacekeepers) for they shall be called sons of God. Peacemaking is active, not passive. Think of ways to make peac...

Day 4

Reading Plan day 4 Genesis 6,7 Psalms 4 Isaiah 2:12-3:12 Matthew 4 Thoughts for the day. 1. If you have questions from Genesis 6 that’s ok. Remember the Bible is not a complete history book (though some historical information is included). It is a book that gives us the information we need to have a better understanding of God so that we can live fulfilled lives in His kingdom. If you do some google searching you can find some potential answers to your questions from Genesis chapter 6. 2. It’s so important to learn the words of scripture. It’s why my parents tried to get me memorizing scripture at a young age. I don’t remember it now until someone starts reading it, and suddenly it’s back. In Matthew 4 we see the story of Jesus being tempted of the Devil. Notice they both quote scripture in their dialogue…Yes the Devil knows the Scripture….We want to know Scripture in its full context for many reasons but in this case to be able to recognize when it’s being used out of contex...

Day 3

Today’s reading Day 3 Genesis 4:8 - end of 5 Psalms 3 Isaiah 2:1-2:11 Matthew 2:17- end of 3 Today’s thought- In Isaiah 2:2-4 Isaiah Prophecies about the same thing we read about at the end of revelation when the same thing is repeated in Johns visions. What is remarkable to think of in this day when there is so much war, is there is a future where weapons are no longer required and will be remade into tools. Imagine no war!! Think about God with us physically. Imagine all the nations going to see Him to learn His ways. Pray that we will see this day soon! We can be thankful that if we choose, God is willing to be with us now. I have made that choice and God is with me though sometimes I may fail to show it.

Day 2

Bible reading plan Day 2 Genesis 2:16-4:7 Psalms 2 Isaiah 1:18-1:31 Matthew 1:22-2:16 Thought for the day: In Genesis 3:16 and 3:17-19 God tells what the result of sin would be on the woman and the man. It was the idea of cause and effect, not commands. Therefore the statement that man would rule over woman was not to be as a law (as many complimentary leaders would explain) but would be the result of sin. Just think, if there is a way where God maybe no longer sees the sin, maybe women don’t get ruled by men. And guess what, there is. Also, notice Adam blames his wife for him eating the fruit. HEY ADAM!!!! You ate the fruit. You could have said no! You are equally at fault! ….. And to this day, we blame others for our mistakes Try doing something that you learn each day. If you are finding my posts helpful, please comment. Feel free to comment if you want me to “stop it”, but please be kind…..and I won’t stop it either but feel free to tell me anyway.

Day 1

Bible reading plan -what I’m doing this year. My plan will take approximately 1 year and I’m reading from the start of the Bible, a little from the worship and wisdom section (Psalms - Song of Solomon), a little from Old Testament prophets, and a little from the New Testament. My goal is to provide a day each week for catching up. I may miss a day! If I dont need to catch up, I’ll read the sermon on the mount (Matthew 5 through 7) on my extra day. Nothing like the words of Jesus regularly. Day 1:   Genesis 1:1-2:15 Psalms 1 Isaiah 1:1-1:17 Matthew 1:1-1:21 My thought of the day. In Isaiah 1:16 and 17, the prophet speaks about what Gods people should focus on doing. We can learn from this today that we are doing what God wants from us when we focus on : No longer doing what is Evil (out of Gods will) Learning to do good Seeking justice for all Reproving the Ruthless (showing disapproval to the ruthless and cruel people) Defending the orphan Plead for the widow (help where it...
